SLOW THE GROWTH

Urban sprawl is destroying Volusia County.  It wrecks our ecosystems, it drives up our taxes, worsens our traffic, and causes dangerous flooding in our homes and businesses.

Let’s face it, it’s costing all of us money in skyrocketing insurance costs not to mention the taxes it takes to supplement these huge projects.

It’s time for a smarter approach. I’ll fight to slow reckless growth by enforcing a rural boundary, strengthening stormwater rules, and ending the misuse of mitigation credits in our county.

 

Slow the Growth isn’t anti-economy — it’s pro-community, pro-conservation, and focused on a better future for all who call Volusia home  and it will save you money. 

 

Urban Sprawl and unchecked development doesn’t make us money - it costs us money. While we do charge impact fees to new developments, this is rarely enough to cover the cost of the roads, utilities, and services needed. More roads, schools, police and fire services, all cost us more than we profit from expanding the tax base.

 

We must adopt smarter, slower growth - coupled with a diverse economy to create jobs and economic opportunity without sacrificing our homes and quality of life.
